Children are hitting puberty earlier and earlier (on average) and so they are developing a natural curiosity at a younger age. Doesn't make it right for them to start having sex, by any means, but they are becoming more sexually aware and sexually mature at younger ages.
Mind you, children (especially girls) were married off at ages 13/14 in the not-so distant past, don't forget that. So it's not as new as you think.Whats with all the 10-13 year olds asking for sex and relationship advice on Yahoo Answers?

I'm 14 and I don't even think about kissing a girl even though I have had a few girlfriends. I don't think that I'm mature enough yet but that's just me.
Whether you like it or not its happening. Better to find constructive ways to deal with it than waste energy ranting about it
I'm flabberghasted. I know there are some people sexually active that young, but I don't think it's the wisest choice. Certainly if they're on a forum wailing all their personal problems to absolute strangers, they're way too young to be in an ';adult'; relationship. I'm an adult. I can handle my problems. It's frightening to see how many people on here can't.

us kids just grow up fast its life...we see sex in movies, sometimes on music videos, tv, and internet im from brooklyn and i live in the hood and girls age 13-15 r pregnant im not sayin im a good girl i have been sexually active but its just we think were ready and sometimes we find dat we regret things

Those 10-13 year old girls you speak of a lot of times really aren't. They're just trolls. You know, 42 year old fat bald men who live in their moms basement and don't have a car or a job who entertain themselves by pretending to be young preteen girls on Yahoo Answers... weirdos.
You noticed that too? I know it's terrible! I'm 14, I never thought about having sex with people, I liked to play. I wish parents did a better job at monitoring. I keep on shaking my head when I read another one of their questions, they're soo young!

it all about the class they send us too. one is called B.A.T.H and this lady say there not called ';balls'; there called testicules. that was the day i got really freaked out. and thats cuz it was in 5TH GRADE
There is no innocence left i middle-school anymore. I know cause i am one. Mostly we just want to know cause we feel blinded unless we know everything about sex and dating.

I agree with you 10 - 13 year olds shouldn't be worried about the opposite sex but they are. I think they come here to get advice that they can't get anywhere else. I'm sure all of their friends are the same age as them meaning no experience with sex or relationships. They probably don't feel comfortable talking to parents or grown ups they know because they are gonna tell them they are to young to think or worry about things like that. My cousin is 14 and she calls me all the time asking random questions about boys and relationships I give her answers because I know her mother isn't very helpful when it comes to anything.

I'm 15, and I agree. I remember that even in 5th grade there were people making out in the halls (5th graders, people I knew), and then asking their friends when they should have sex. Most were only 11 or 12!

Well I'm 16 and when I was 10-13 my thoughts ran quite along yours' lines. I'm still sticking strong to my morals and such and focusing on enjoying my youth while I can. I mean I'm ok with dating and stuff but nothing so serious! You only have your youth for a little while, and once. But I agree, it's prolly because it's publicized and just less private now! Seriously name 1 movie 13 yr olds like that doesn't somehow bring about those things.

Most guys aren't and girls just got interested. In 5th grade, girls and guys both got ';the talk'; and talk about periods and boobs and Adam's Apples and pubic hair. GROSS! But eductational, they just want more. It's like school, but Puberty school.
It's really insane, i think they watch to much tv, and now even the cartoons have sexual content, i think that makes them very curious, and they want to know about it.
It's no problem if they ask here, i just wish that most of them don't go out there and try to experience it, it's an epidemy.
some of us mature young adults are encouraging them to just go ahead and do it, i hope that we all can stop and think for a moment, we can give these kids some good advice, i know they might not take them, but at least we'll know that we try.
Let's try to prevent another underage pregnancy or stds.

the thing with SRE or sex ed is that they teach things to kids 2 years after they already know it. so in reality the education system is letting kids down because theyre not educating them on what they need to know at the time they need it.
also everyone develops at different speeds, and i quite agree, when i was 10-13 i was more interested in dolls and sports day and things like that, but i am well aware that when i was that age some kids were thinking about sexual things....
i remember when i first started secondary school girls were talking about how fat/thin they were, and i was quite shocked cos it had never even crossed my mind that i might be too fat/thin or that it was something i should think about
but i was very small and young for my age......
i think the whole growing up fast is something that we cant do anything about, so theres no point complaining about it, gone are the days when kids belived in father christmas until they were 14, and we just have to acept it.
the fact that kids want to know about sex but arnt getting the answers they need worries me. because it is something that they need to be well informed about so they can make their own decisions. when kids post questions, which are perfectly vaild and people answer saying ';if ur asking this youre too young to be having sex'; that really pisses me off cos it doesnt mean theyre having sex, it means they live in a society where people have sex at a young age and they want to know the facts, which is a good thing.
but what we need is better sex ed, teaching kids what they need to know when they need to know it, its no good saying ';dont have sex'; cos thats not a real answer is it, its avoiding the question
